Sustainability and Flowers

We're working hard to become more sustainable and adopt more environmentally friendly practices. We're not perfect, but we're always looking for ways to improve. If there's something we could do better, please let us know. We'll do our best to find a solution.

Here are some ways we're working to become more sustainable:

  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Our goal is to follow this ethos as much as possible. We try to use plastic in ways that maximize its utility. We already recycle all cardboard, paper, and glass wherever we can.

  • Floral Foam: We don't use floral foam or partially biodegradable "biofoam" in our arrangements.

  • Single-Use Plastics: We don't use cellophane, and we're working to eliminate and replace other single-use plastics where we can.

  • Packaging: We use biodegradable labels and paper or card wraps and packaging to make it easier for our customers to recycle.

  • Local Flowers: We forage our own trees and flowers without using pesticides.

  • Sourcing: If we can't fulfill an order with our own harvest, we work with neighboring farms, buy from other local growers, Finnish suppliers, and, as a last resort, imported goods from the Netherlands. We always opt for the option with the fewest "miles" involved.

  • Natural Materials: We won't use artificially dyed, bleached, or painted plant materials, whether they're dried or fresh.

Areas for Improvement

  • Travel: When our trusty Berlingo finally gives up, we'll investigate a more environmentally friendly option.
