Stillroom

·

I have struggled to define my workshop outwards. What is it; a store, a workshop, can one step in, visiting hours or by appointment only? It has been hard to comprehend, for me and for visitors alike.

My workshop actually has three rooms. A warehouse where I do floristry and store flowers. A boiler room where I plant baskets, melt beeswax, grow small batches under grow lights, and dry herbs. And the workshop itself, where I do finishing work, drink tea, grow indoor plants, overwinter herbs, and meet visitors.
Until yesterday I lacked a word for all of this. Then I met the ancestors midway and realized: I have a stillroom. An old-school ladies’ territory for herbs, beeswax candles, crafts, and anything that supports the work of the main property. A space apart, outside the household proper and outside the Humuhalli music room.

I thought my Stillroom deserves its own page, just as it has its own space. You find it here.
